At the start of this project, the pipes were badly covered with a tick biofilm of 10 - 15 cm. The three pipes in total were each individually drained, thoroughly cleaned and protected.
The Humidur coating was applied for interior protection of steel seawater intake pipes. There was an additional protection of CP - sacrificial anodes applied, which was not necessary, but preferred by the client.
The thickness applied inside these pipes was 800 microns. The total length of three coated pipes, was 1240 meters. The diameter of the pipes is about 2 meters.
The salt water was used for cooling of the aluminium producing process, for generating waterpower and for desalination to drinking water.
