Inspection corroded sheet piles - Heerema Vlissingen B.V.

In 2005, Acotec coated a part of the sheet piles at Heerema Vlissingen B.V. The aim of the inspection in 2014 was to determine the effectiveness of the coating after ten years and to inspect the condition of the sheet piles.

The inspection was carried out by means of Acotec's DZI cofferdam in order to access the sheet piles below the waterline.

The inspections of the non-protected sheet piles showed corrosion both below and above the waterline. MIC caused pitting resulting in perforations of the sheet piles. The layer thickness was measured and mapped out:

The inspection of the ten-year old coating showed that the coating is still intact and performs well. No corrosion was detected at these places.
