Humidur® is applied as anti-corrosion coating on the pipeline system of the Nelson Platform of Shell.
Dry-ice blasting is chosen as surface preparation. This is a non-abrasive, non-flammable and nonconductive cleaning method. Both encapsulation and water wash was not required before blasting.
After application, the adhesion was measured at +15MPa. The blasting costs were reduced to 30-50% and there was a 50% increase in productivity.
