Innovation is the most powerful heavy-lift jack-up vessel in the world, owned by HGO InfraSea Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture of DEME (Geosea) and Hochtief. Its box coolers are located in the central seawater channel of the ship. Heavy fouling on these coolers cause a decrease in cooling efficiency. Humidur® AF was applied as anti-fouling system to avoid fouling on the box coolers. Inspections were carried out to monitor the condition of the anti-fouling.
After one complete growing season, the box coolers were free from fouling thanks to the anti-fouling coating Humidur® AF. One box cooler without anti-fouling was inspected to determine the effectiveness of Humidur® AF. As can be seen from the pictures below, the difference between the coolers with and without Humidur® AF is significant. The box cooler without anti-fouling is fouled. The cooler with Humidur® AF is free from fouling. Furthermore, the required cooling capacity is achieved thanks to Humidur® AF .
